Description
Particle accelerators are the Fundamental research tools of the high energy physics community for studying the basic laws of nature. Nowadays in the conventional accelerators the accelerating fields are limited to <100 MeV/m. In the future, high-energy accelerators will be in the TeV energy range which means several tens of kilometers for future linear Collider, so they will be Bigger, more expensive! As a result, new technology suggest plasma as the cavity. Plasma is a medium consisting of ions and free electrons that can sustain very large electric fields ( bigger than GeV/m) which is three orders of magnitude higher gradient so plasma accelerators will be much shorter linear colliders. According to the importance of the plasma accelerators in the particle acceleration, I will introduce and investigate the AWAKE experiment at CERN and laser driven ion acceleration in the laser-plasma interaction.
