Parton Distribution Functions and physical observables 1h

In this lecture, we will commence with a brief historical overview of the parton model. Subsequently, we will delve into the necessity for Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs), elucidating their significance in our understanding of particle physics. Following this, we will explore the impact of various experimental methodologies on the determination and refinement of PDFs. The subsequent topic will focus on the calculation of physical observables through the utilization of PDFs, shedding light on their crucial role in predicting and interpreting experimental outcomes. Lastly, we will delve into the diverse approaches employed for extracting PDFs, providing a comprehensive understanding of the methods used in extracting this fundamental component of particle physics.

Speaker: Dr Majid Azizi (Semnan University)
